Dr Marita Paasch appointed COO of Leica Camera AG

The Supervisory Board of Leica Camera AG has appointed Dr Marita Paasch (52) to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company with effect from 1 June 2018. Dr Paasch assumes executive responsibility for the areas Operations, Research & Development, Procurement, Customer Care and Supply Chain Management from her predecessor, Markus Limberger (47).

Dr Paasch is a true leadership personality who possesses international expertise and experience form a range of different industries. She studied physics (Mainz) and graduated with a doctorate in solid-state physics (Darmstadt). Most recently, she led the business unit Advanced Materials at Mondi AG, a stock market listed, international manufacturer of paper and packaging materials, from 2014. Prior to this, she worked for more than 18 years in various management functions at Schott AG, Mainz, a globally active technology concern in the fields of special glasses and glass-ceramics. There, she led the business area Corporate Development from 2005 to 2008 and then the business unit Advanced Optics from 2008 to 2014. She will now be contributing her many years of expertise and experience in process optimisation and the profitable development of business segments to the benefit of the long-established company.

Markus Limberger came to the company group more than 11 years ago, initially as the managing director of Uwe Weller Feinwerktechnik GmbH. He moved to Leica Camera AG in 2011. In his more than seven years as a board member and COO, he held responsibility for the technical and technological modernisation of the company. During his term as COO, Mr Limberger directed various projects, for instance the construction of the new production facilities in Famalicão/Portugal and the Leica Camera Factory at the headquarters site in Wetzlar. In 2015, the latter was awarded the title ‘Factory of the Year’ by a jury of industry experts. In 2016, Markus Limberger founded two agile and customer-centric affiliate companies concerned with forward-looking innovations for digital cameras and optical products.
